How to Measure for Sofa and Furniture Delivery

Measuring only the final position is not enough for a sofa or large furniture item. The product must also pass through every doorway, corridor, turn, stair and lift between the delivery vehicle and the room.

Record the product dimensions

Check width, height and depth on the product page. For irregular shapes, legs, arms or packaging can affect the largest dimension. Ask for clarification if a required measurement is missing.

Measure the delivery route

• External and internal door openings
• Hallway width and tight turns
• Stair width, ceiling height and landings
• Lift doors and internal lift dimensions
• Gates, paths and shared entrances

Look for removable parts

Some furniture has removable legs, cushions or sections, but this must be confirmed for the exact product. Do not assume a part can be removed safely.

Mark the final position

Use masking tape to outline the footprint in the room. Check doors, drawers, radiators, sockets and comfortable walkways around it.
