Media Wall Planning Checklist

A media wall combines technical installation with interior design. Good planning begins with the room and equipment, then works toward the appearance you want.

Measure the wall and viewing area

Record the wall width and height, nearby doors and windows, seating position and likely viewing distance. Mark the proposed television outline at the intended height.

List every device and cable

Include power, aerial, HDMI, network, games consoles, streaming devices, sound systems and any future connections. Plan how equipment remains accessible for maintenance.

Allow for ventilation

Televisions, receivers, consoles and other equipment need suitable airflow. Follow the equipment manufacturer's clearance guidance and avoid enclosing heat-producing devices without a safe ventilation plan.

Decide on storage, lighting and finish

Consider shelves, cupboards, decorative lighting, speaker positions, colour, texture and how the design relates to the rest of the room. Any fireplace element requires its own manufacturer and installation requirements.

Prepare a useful enquiry

Send photographs, wall dimensions, postcode, television model, device list and style references. Okey Solutions accepts media wall enquiries in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
